About our network

Our own network, directly connected in Vienna and Berlin.

We run our own network with its own AS number: AS215120. Our routers in Vienna and Berlin are directly connected to major internet exchanges and to international carriers. That way your data takes the shortest route.

Two core locations, one network.

In Vienna and Berlin our routers sit in the same data centres as your servers. There we are connected to the local internet exchanges and to several carriers.

All internet exchanges at a glance

At an internet exchange (IXP), network operators swap traffic with each other directly, without a detour through third parties. We are connected to these six exchanges, each with IPv4 and IPv6 and via the route servers.

Our peering policy is open. You can find all details in our PeeringDB entry (AS215120).

Our carriers

Anything that cannot be reached directly via an internet exchange goes through several international carriers (IP transit). If one fails, the others take over automatically.

Arelion AS1299

One of the largest backbone networks in the world, formerly known as Telia Carrier.

Cogent AS174

International carrier with its own backbone in Europe and North America.

GTT AS3257

Global tier 1 network with a backbone in Europe and North America.

LWLcom AS50629

German carrier with its own fibre network, for short routes to German networks.

Frequently asked questions about our network

What is an autonomous system (AS)?

An autonomous system is an independent network with its own number that announces its IP addresses to the internet itself. With AS215120 we decide which routes your data takes.

What does peering at internet exchanges do for me?

Networks we are directly connected to reach your servers without a detour. That means short routes and low latency, for example to Cloudflare and Akamai.

What does our own dark fibre in Berlin mean?

Dark fibre is a fibre optic line that we use exclusively and run with our own network equipment. It connects several data centres in Berlin directly to our network, with no third-party networks in between, and we decide on bandwidth and routes ourselves. This gives us redundant paths to our upstream carriers: if one route fails, traffic keeps flowing over another.

Do I get Austrian IP addresses?

Yes. Servers in Vienna get Austrian IP addresses, servers in Berlin German IP addresses. IPv4 and IPv6 are available at both locations.

Can my network peer with Evolus?

Of course. Our peering policy is open. You can reach us at all of the internet exchanges listed above via the route servers or with a direct session. The details are on PeeringDB.
